DOTr – CAR conducted its initial session of the PUV Driver’s Academy Training for PUV operators and drivers on August 17-18, 2017 at the LTFRB-CAR hearing Room, Pacdal, Baguio City. The training was attended by 60 participants on its first day and another 60 in its second day.

The training is a program by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and the Land Transportation Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB) aimed at re-familiarizing drivers and operators with the basic road safety measures, driving courtesy, and traffic rules and regulations.

A series of lectures by the DOTr-CAR training officers were conducted. The lectures include topics on Road Safety measures, Driver’s Good Manners in Driving and Road Rage, Traffic Signs and Pavement markings, and LTFRB Policies, Terms and Conditions. At the end of the lectures, the participants were given examinations to evaluate their knowledge and understanding on the topics. Knowledge in the said topics are relevant to ensure safety on the road.

Pursuant to the Department’s mandate to promote safe, efficient and reliable public transportation, the PUV Drivers’ Academy was successfully launched and was positively received by the transportation sector in the region. Since its initial kickoff on August 17, DOTr-CAR PUV Drivers’ Academy has so far catered to 899 attendees as of October 31. The region’s riding public is thankful that the program was launched to re-familiarize drivers and operators with road safety measures, traffic regulations and driving courtesy. With its success in the region, lecturers are also being trained to accommodate the increasing number of interested participants. Through the program, the Office hopes to curb rude, reckless driving  and other related traffic violations in the region.

DOTr-Car Regional Director Atty. Jose Eduardo Natividad assures that subsequent trainings will follow.
